Fall 2024 Bilingual Construction Management
Certificate Program

Metro DC Hispanic Contractors Association (MDCHCA) is presenting our in-person training program for business owners interested in understanding the dynamics of subcontracting in the Washington, D.C., region's commercial construction industry.
​
The Certificate program consists of a series of ten three-hour sessions ending in a Roundtable Panel with representatives from five of the most important commercial builders in the region, where participants can present their capabilities and advocate for contracting their companies in live, ongoing projects.
​
The Certificate program will include seminars on business structure, finance and administration, risk management, insurance and bonding, contract review, estimation and bidding, training and safety, marketing and business development, and an assessment panel.
​
Training instructors have been selected from experts in the field, including the most successful professionals from over a dozen large construction and construction-related corporations, as well as members of our Board of Directors, all highly successful businesspersons.
PROGRAM SCHEDULE
The seminars will be held on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 to 9 p.m. on ten consecutive Tuesdays from September 17 through November 21, 2024. Participants should be prepared to attend all sessions to receive their certificate.

LOCATION

ELIGIBILITY
This training is limited to 15-18 business owners who are members of the Association or intend to become members. Applicants should be business owners or key management/personnel authorized to represent your company.
We are looking for companies that meet one (1) of the following:

Certified Business Enterprise (CBE) or
-
Has an office in DC
-
Currently licensed to do work in DC and/or doing work in the district
-
Would like to do work in the District and willing to obtain proper DC contractor licenses
Size of Companies
If you are a business with three years of experience and revenues over $500K in the Construction Industry, this is a great program for you to get your business to the next level! We will consider businesses on a case-by-case basis. We are looking for business owners with the drive and motivation to learn and grow along with some of the top professionals in the Construction Industry.

COST
There will be a minimal fee of $150 to cover the costs of refreshments and food.
Participants are responsible for covering the costs of their parking.
Application Process
Interested applicants can apply for the program by completing the following application form. Once we receive your application, our staff will contact you to schedule a brief virtual (Zoom) interview. Upon completion of the interview, the review committee will meet for final recommendations. An acceptance letter with logistical information will be sent to each participant. Students will need to pay the $150 fee before attending the course. An invoice will be sent to each selected participant, and the payment can be made online.

The “Metro D.C. Hispanic Contractors Bilingual Construction Management Certificate Program” is supported in part by the Mayor’s Office on Latino Affairs, the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning & Economic Development, and member donations. The program is officially a bilingual series. All sessions will have English—and Spanish-speaking instructors present.
