Metro DC Hispanic Contractors Association
(MDCHCA)

Presents in-person construction business management training for business owners. Understand subcontracting dynamics in Washington, D.C.'s commercial construction industry. Join a Certificate program featuring twelve three-hour sessions and a Roundtable Panel with top commercial construction industry players. Enhance your skills in business structure, risk management, bidding, finance, safety, marketing and more.

 

Training instructors have been selected from experts in the field, including the most successful professionals from over a dozen large construction and construction-related corporations, as well as members of our Board of Directors, all highly successful business persons.

 

PROGRAM SCHEDULE

  • The seminars will be held on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. on twelve consecutive sessions starting this Spring, with a final graduation session on the Thursday during the last week of training.

  • Participants should be prepared to attend all sessions to receive their certificate.

  • Anticipated dates are:
    Mid March thru end of May 2026.

COST

There will be a minimal fee of $550.00 to cover training costs and light refreshments. Participants are responsible for having their own transportation.

LOCATION

Training will take place in Washington DC. More details forthcoming.

Who Should Apply?

 

This training course is open to Construction business owners or key management/executive level personnel. The program is open to Members of the Metro DC Hispanic Contractors Association as well as other subcontractors doing work in Maryland, DC or Virginia.  Applicants must be committed to attending all sessions and participate in all activities.

 

This course is ideal for:

  • Business owners of companies with minimum 3 years in business and $500,000 or more in revenue

  • Operations and Business Development Personnel

  • Estimators and Project Managers looking to understand more about business management

What type of business qualify?

We are looking for companies that meet one of the following:

  • Certified Business Enterprise (CBE) or

  • Have an office in DC or

  • Currently licensed to do work in DC and/or doing work in the District

  • Would like to do work in the District and willing to obtain proper DC contractor licenses

  • Size of Companies: 3 or more years in business and minimum $500K in annual revenue

  

If you are in business the meet the criteria this is a great program for you to get your business to the next level!

 

We will consider business on a case-by-case basis. We are looking for business owners with the drive and motivation to learn and grow along with some of the top professionals in the Construction Industry.

Application Process

STEP 1. REVIEW APPLICATION

Once your application has been submitted, a MDCHCA staff member will send you an email confirming we have received your application. If you meet all the eligibility requirements, we will then schedule an interview.

STEP 2. INTERVIEW WITH MDHCA STAFF

We will conduct an interview to learn more about your business and further assess if this is this program is appropriate for your business. We will go over expectations of those participating in the program.

STEP 3. ACCEPTANCE CONFIRMATION EMAIL WITH INSTRUCTIONS

staff will formally send you an acceptance letter into the program with further information on payment for the course, program dates, times and other logistical matters.

STEP 4. PAY COURSE FEE

Students are expected to pay for the course prior to the beginning of class. If there are any issues please contact the program director.

STEP 5. ATTEND VIRTUAL ORIENTATION/MEET & GREET

All students will have an opportunity to attend a virtual orientation and meet other students in the program. We will go over last minute logistical information and program coordination.

All classes are held in person.

Spring 2026 Construction Business Management Program

Interested applicants can apply for the program by completing the following application form. Once we receive your application, our staff will contact you to schedule a brief virtual (Zoom) interview. Upon completion of the interview, the review committee will meet for final recommendations. An acceptance letter with logistical information will be sent to each participant. Students will need to pay the $200 fee before attending the course. An invoice will be sent to each selected participant, and the payment can be made online.


Note: The business owner or an authorized representative that plays a crucial role in the success of your company should complete this form.
